Professional Records Management is a locally owned and operated Atlanta-based company specializing in offsite storage and management of confidential documents. We’re a new company, but we have decades of experience in the industry as prior owners of Atlanta Records Management (considered by many as the premier records storage vendor in Atlanta). Our hands-on-management style has positioned us to work directly with the end users of our services over the past three decades. During that time we’ve learned what works and what does not work.            

Industry Overview
For the past 50 years the offsite storage industry has offered limited service options. Functioning as a basic warehousing service, the industry has failed to recognize their role as a provider of document management services. Service is provided under conditions suited to the vendor with little regard for document security or cost control for the customer. There are no work flow processes to ensure compliance with the customer’s records retention policy or government regulations. However, the industry did recognize that inefficient or nonexistent document management services ensured a steady increase in the number of cartons stored in their facilities. When yearly service fee increases are included, the consumer could expect an average 20 percent increase in billings per year. Now the industry had to figure out a way to discourage  their customers from closing their accounts when faced with uncontrolled cost increases and poor service. PERMANENT REMOVAL fees were the solution. This gave the vendors the leverage they needed. Permanent Removal fees quickly became known by customers as HOSTAGE fees. This additional fee made closing an account more costly.
